Who Are We?

We are one of the most active outdoor societies at Warwick, cattering for a wide variety of interests and abilities we are committed to giving all our members the best outdoor experiences possible.
As such it seems only fair to give the people who make everything happen a brief credit on the website. Also this will let you know who to yell at if you need something.

The Exec

The President - Chris Davis

Chris Davis

Hi, I'm Chris, I'll be your president for this year. Which means that i'm the person to come and talk to I guess if you have most questions, and i'll try and delegate to someone else on the exec!! I'll be trying to run the club in a similar way to the last couple of years, where it has been a solid, fun part of uni, and essential for escaping the bubble that is warwick uni. So i'll be trying to persuade more people to join, get involved, go away, at the same time as trying to keep them away from Tim who may well scare them off. It's going to be a good year. Chris x x x

The Vice President - Rhian Littlewood

Rhian Littlewood

Hello, I'm Rhian and I'm vice-president of Warwick Mountains this year. So along with Chris (Mr President) and the rest of the exec I will be making sure Mountains continues to be the best club in Warwick. It is well worth being nice to me as I am also club chef along with 'wife' of the husband-and-wife social team, and hence call the shots as far as portions of apple crumble and custard go. I have been a member of WM since my first year. In fact, I was so super keen that I joined before I even arrived at Warwick. In my 2nd year I was on the exec as Merchandise officer, aka designer of all those WM hoodies that you will so desperately want once you see them. Never fear, Arran will be producing something equally spectacular for this year. I've also been a walk leader for the last year. Some interesting facts about me: 1. I used to be in love with Sealskinz, but my recent trip to Skye has ended that. I am still in mourning. 2. I can (and regularly do) cook a 2 course meal for 40, but my last attempt at boiling an egg was unsuccessful 3. My current greatest ambition is to do the traverse of the Cuillin Ridge. 4. Less graceful moments include being hauled out of a chest deep bog last Easter while on an expedition in the peaks 5. I really don't like being cold Sooo...join WM! I promise to be friendly and welcoming, get you up a mountain (or three) and back down again, and feed you lots of custard. Rhian xxx

The Social Secs - Chris Damn and Jacob Greenhow

Chris

Chris Damn

Late on a winter night in the Cheviots: My friend and I hadn't been able to find a place to pitch tent before dark and so had kept on ploughing through the kilometres. Eventually we had reached a campsite where we'd had to pitch our tent in a full on thunderstorm, eying up the lightening warily as we waved around tent poles. Walking back from the daddy long legs infested toilet block, I pointed out all this to my friend, and wondered why we did this. He replied 'yeah, it's a bit of a difficult sell really!' As we both laughed our way back to our tent and some pudding, we both knew it'd been an amazing day, we just weren't sure why... For me, it's that sense of adventure that makes me love mountaineering, and with it Warwick Mountains, even if trips to comfortable lodges with communal meals tend to be a whole lot less traumatic! I'm the other half of the social duo and a walk leader, so hopefully you'll see a lot of me if you join. I don't really cook brownies, but if anyone feels they've ambitions at sock wrestling...

Jake

Jacob Greenhow

Hopefully you should see a lot of me as I'm joint social sec with Chris. I joined Warwick Mountains in my second year and have never looked back. I Managed to make it on 8 trips in one year :-D, pretty good considering I had never been hiking before uni. I won male lake bagger of the year so I’m looking forward to protecting my title. I'm known for a lot of faff especially when my camera is involved. Come along to some of the trips and you will be able to sample mine and Rhian's cooking. My chocolate brownies have a good reputation but it's up to you to decide if Arran's are better. If you love food and the outdoors Warwick mountains if for you

The Treasurer - Louise Waters

Louise Waters

Treasurer: keeping an eye on the gold stuff. I got the mountain bug in New Zealand (the mountain bugs got me too) and since have been spending as much time as I can tramping around in beautiful places closer to home. I've been an active member of the club for a year and a half. I'm running Term 1 Week 9 Trip, to an as yet unspecified location.

The Merchandise Officer - Arran Bedda

Arran Bedda

Hi, I'm Arran and I'm the one in charge of the T-shirts, Hoodies and other such fluff. Poke me if you have any good ideas for merchandise and I'll see what I can do. I joined Mountains back in first year and haven't looked back and have now been on what could be officially too many of the trips. I'll most likely be found on the most epic walk I can find on the saturday, which you should come along on if you want to try some of my "famous" brownies or flapjack (both of which are clearly better than Jakes :P). You might hear occasional shouts of Heffa from other members of the club, but fret not, it's not the panic induced, blood-curdling warning of an incoming mad, raging and frothing creature of the bovine persuasion, merely my nickname obtained during my time here, apparently due to my surprising density and ability to make small girls cry, or maybe it was fly... apparently. Also if you haven't noticed, without careful conversational directing I am liable to talk nonsense at you for hours on end, consider yourself forewarned!

The Equipment Officer - Daniel Sullivan

Daniel Sullivan

Hi i'm Dan, I am the equipment officer for the club but you will more often see me referred to being the "gear junkie". I'm the gear officer for a reason, so if you need advice on what to bring on trips, want to borrow something off the club I am the one to contact! I'm a second year and really enjoyed my time on trips last year I got the mountains bug on a cold October morning on the north face of Tryfan and now probably have it for life, I do like the social aspect of a trip more than most, and you sometimes find me foregoing an "epic" to go to a tea room early and then go to a gear shop! So any queries that cannot be answered by the others (or maybe you like my profile picture more) don't hesitate to ask!

The Tour Officer -Timothy Slater

Timothy Slater

Hi I'm Tim. I am the Tour Officer. My role is to primarily organise the Scotland Tour (woop! woop!) and advise people on getting to the Alps this summer. My favourite colour is red and that's where I got bored of writing ( well the first time round anyway, so I'm leaving it in for prosperity). My current boredom level has led me to inspire you with two pieces of advice, neither my own but there you go: 1) Never invade Russia- you will always regret it. 2) Hands, feet, neck, balls Extra socks warms them all. Any questions shout. See ya around.

Walk Leaders

Many of the already mentioned exec are also walkleaders and thus will not be mentioned twice however there are several other walk leaders who deserve a mention here:
